Notice: Netflix streaming of Amigo expires on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 20).
For those who haven’t watched Amigo, a movie centered around the time and events of the Philippine-American War, I recommend anyone interested in Philippine history, especially of our history involving how the Americans treated us during their colonial rule, to use this chance to watch it. The war, that eventually leads to the rise of the U.S. becoming an imperialistic nation following after the Europeans, that continues to this day,
must watch this movie
this music video is really Important because:
a. women reclaiming public space/space where harassment occurs
b. reappropriation of physical harassment thru the use of handprint imagery
c. reappropriation of masculine object (baseball bat) for self-defense by women
d. men shown performing physical labor as work/women shown performing physical labor for pleasure
e. deconstruction of ageism thru the inclusion of young & elderly women being complete badasses
f. centering around performance by women of color, which is refreshing when we as a culture just had to deal with the fucking white girl mafia
g. doooooope. beat. not going to pretend i don’t love this song (or rye rye in general)

So I wanted to work on a Two-Spirit colour wheel that I can identify with.
This came into fruition because I kept seeing definitions, classifications, etc that put people who are Two-Spirit as being strictly Trans*. This was wrong, because it’s more complicated and all encompassing than that.
Also the definition of being Two-Spirit was quite vague, it made it sound like anyone who is Native and Non-Native can use the term.
Being Two-Spirit is strictly a First Nations term. For a Non-Native individual who uses the Two-Spirit term to identify with, this is Cultural Appropriation.
I hope that people don’t get too offended with me simplifying this, because I honestly wasn’t going to type out every possible separate identity in the Non-Native LGBT Community, it just isn’t practical.
